Picture was duplicated in two layers one layer was gaussian blurred 16.4 using multiply blend mode for orton effect... the lower layer was made into a B&W Infrared .... adjusted and flattened.... the flattened image was then duplicated and then a distortion filter was ran on top image to get waves and distortion... this image was made into a overlay and adjusted you can see distortion in water and sky around trees
The image was flattened and then colors were dodged ... like you would do in traditional darkroom

I use this distortion technique in my text images to get waves and movement in the text using blend modes
